Description: The role of Corporate Health & Safety Director is to manage the Safety programs and processes for the entire company. This position will coordinate with other safety team members, Project Managers and members of management to ensure that all programs, policies and laws are in compliance. This position will also conduct site safety audits and inspections, conduct accident investigations, and to provide internal safety training. Also, to document and preserve, as well as improve the existing safety program. The position will act as the Industrial Health and Safety representative for a variety of projects including infrastructure baseline and process baseline projects, while maintaining professional working relationships with client and corporate safety professionals. You should be a self motivated safety professional with five to ten years experience in occupational health and safety including confined space, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, PSM, fall protection standards and all other occupational health and safety regulatory standards. Industrial food plant experience would be a necessity. JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including but not limited to): Manage the development and achieving of all safety goals and objectives; Developing procedures, safety standards, and best practices in a team environment. Develop and maintain positive, consultative, advisory relationships with Project Managers and Project Team, implementing safe work practices and ensuring safety oversight of the group. Are CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) and / or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certified, and have OSHA 10 Hour Authorized Trainer certifications for both Construction and General. Possess solid, proven skills in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions. Complete Job Hazard Analyses and PPE Assessments for all jobs. Perform safety audits throughout the facility for hazard identification. Conduct comprehensive reviews of potential risks on projects (HS&E, contracting, and insurance) and identifies potential mitigation measures. Recommends improvements to and provides technical review of HS&E tools, processes, policies, and training Maintain expert knowledge of specific requirements imposed by governmental agencies and CSM policies and procedures. Conduct HS&E training, including subcontractor safety management. Provide regulatory and policy review and interpretation and technical advice. Display knowledge in the following areas of construction safety administration: Confined space, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, PSM, fall protection standards and all other occupational health and safety regulatory standards. Prepare and report Metrics Monthly to our client, including but not limited to: employee safety statistics, subcontractor safety statistics, EHS training status, EHS audits, regulatory compliance issues, and environmental deliverables. Facilitate training to all appropriate staff to acquire necessary skills / knowledge / certifications for the company’s safety programs. Leading safety audit efforts and champion the implementation. Manage all OSHA and Workers Compensation reporting and record keeping in conjunction with the Human Resources Director. Must be able to manage a safety organization, not just one job site. All other tasks as assigned. This position requires up to 75% travel. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: BS Degree (technical degree preferred) or equivalent experience. Construction / Industrial Hygiene / Safety / Science related. OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Trained EXPERIENCE: Familiar with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Conduction Industry Standards) Previous Safety Coordinator / Manager a plus. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred. Excellent verbal / written communications skill and ability to positively influence people across all functional areas of an organization Must have advanced leadership qualities in order manage all safety, without being at the jobsite in person.
