SUBSTITUTIONS: College training which included six semester hours per year in architecture; civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering; or construction or industrial technology may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience for a maximum of three years of experience. A baccalaureate degree in architecture; civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering; or construction or industrial technology may be substituted for all of the required experience. NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting: the Middle states Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Incorporated; the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools; the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools; the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools; or the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Job Concepts: Function of Work: To inspect Housing property and perform quality control on inspections performed by contractors. Level of Work: Experienced. Supervision Received: General from a higher-level position. Supervision Exercised: None. Location of Work: Any public housing authority. Job Distinctions: Differs from Housing Inspector 2 by the absence of lead worker duties or more complex duties, such as mediation or training. Examples of Work: Performs initial inspections prior to tenant move in. Reviews and inspects a percentage of work performed by contractors. Perform re-inspections of failing properties. Perform special inspections not performed by contractors, such as owner or tenant complaints. Inspects Section 8 and public housing according to Housing Quality Standards and city codes and ordinances.
