Normally about five to seven years of extensive experience in healthcare architecture. Professional degree very desirable. Thorough knowledge of architectural practice and concepts, practices, and procedures within the healthcare field. Working knowledge of related engineering principles. Initiates and presents design concepts and planning - prepares presentation and design drawings. Checks and coordinates design requirements of engineering and specialty consultants. Checks design for compliance with all codes and zoning requirements. Assists project architect in obtaining permits. Confers and corresponds with client in conjunction with project architect to define program. Directs and supervises design/drafter assistants. Develops project design details, materials selections, outline specifications, narratives, for contract document's production. Assists Construction Administrator in the resolution of design issues and approval of samples and shop drawings submittals. May assume the responsibilities of a Project Architect.
