Job Title: Mid-Level Naval Architect

Description:
The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering or Ocean Engineering and at least 5 years experience overall. At least 3 years will have been with a shipyard in a production engineering support role. Also required is the ability to design and arrange details for primary and secondary ship structure. Candidate must be able to develop supporting structural calculations for required scantlings and welds based on first principles as well as regulatory society rules. Additional required areas of knowledge include outfitting and naval architectural support for common shipyard activities such as repairs, stability tests and vessel surveys. Also required is a thorough familiarity with USCG and ABS regulations as well as strong experience with AutoCAD and GHS. Experience with FEA and Rhino is a plus. Work will primarily be in an office environment (5 days per week typically) with occasional travel for surveys, inspections and testing. The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills and will be able to work either independently or with a team. A career-oriented individual will have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and may already have a PE license. Proof of eligibility to work in the USA is a requirement.
