Well-established New York based $200+ million division of a private equity backed construction holding company that specializes in large-scale complex mechanical and general construction projects primarily in the municipal, public works, environmental, industrial and commercial markets in the New York City area is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to be an integral member of the management team to manage growth prospectively. CFO will have oversight and responsibility for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, reporting, relationships with banks and bonding companies. The CFO will be primarily responsibility for managing a department of 15, for refining and enhancing accounting systems, policies and procedures, internal and operating controls, for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, working capital management, risk management, project analysis, cost controls; and cost accounting systems. In depth knowledge of construction, job cost, joint ventures, GAAP and project reviews is a requirement.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position will report directly to the CEO and will be an integral member of the management team . The CFO will have responsibility for the following:
Provides input to and is actively involved in preparation of Business plans.
Oversees Budgeting and forecasting process.
Oversees the preparation of cash flow projections by Dept Heads and PMs.
Oversees Working Capital Management.
Responsible for continuing to establish and refining operating and internal controls.
Oversees the project accounting for construction and development projects
Oversees an Accounting department of 15 for full service contractor organization including contracts administration and a 25 union in-house payroll
Oversees Corporate Controller in preparing Board books, GAAP compliant financials and corporate tax returns
Responsible for providing input on joint ventures
Improves cost controls and cost accounting systems.
Oversees Financial Reporting Processes.
Establishes Critical Accounting Policies.
Oversees Project Accounting
WIP reporting
Participates in design and evaluation of overall business risk assessment
Develops an audit approach and rotation for identified business risks
Supports the audit requirements implicit
Supports due diligence requirements
Oversees risk management.
Prepares Management Discussion and Analysis
Ensures compliance with federal state and local tax requirements,
Reviews areas and processes for cost saving and improved efficiencies
Helps coordinates the further integration of Project Management, Estimating and Timberline Systems
Bank relations
Bonding relations
Interface with Private Equity Firm
Oversees bond substitution for retention.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
CPA
Minimum of 5 years of public accounting
Minimum of 5 years experience with a public company.
Minimum 20 years of overall experience.
Minimum of 10 years of work experience as a Chief Financial Officer in a $100+ million general or subcontractor with extensive self perform and Agency Experience.
Working knowledge of Timberline, Project reviews and WIP
Must have in-depth knowledge of construction insurances wrap and non-wraap.
Ability to play a critical role in creating long-term business plans and operational budgets
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Excel/Word
