analyzing and reporting of proposed code and standard changes for the impact on company’s products; creating and refining codes and standards proposals in conjunction with the company’s technical staff; fielding, organizing and researching member technical questions; providing regular written updates and summaries to upper management; managing consultants and support staff; assisting the organization in helping to identify potential growth areas and needs for services; and will assist in building the technical reference library and resources.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESManagement• Maintains and manages effective relationships with internal customers, certification agencies and industry peers active in codes and standards development.• Actively participates in and supports professional interests on numerous technical committees relating to Building/Plumbing codes and product performance standards including but not limited to ASME, ASTM, NSF, IAMPMO, ICC CSA, ASSE and others. • Analyzes and reporting of proposed codes and standards changes for the impact on company’s products.• Receives, reviews and approves department invoices and expenses.• Conduct timely and accurate employee performance evaluations; addresses performance issues as needed.• Continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills in recruiting, selecting, training, motivating, reviewing, coaching, developing, and retaining a high performance team.• Works closely with Director of Reliability and Business Development in coordinating Codes, Standards and Product Certification functions.Codes• Researches and provides field support for Outside Sales regarding code compliance issues; provides code updates to team members on codes changes.• Develops proposed code changes and submits to agency for review and approval.• Researches and monitors national and local activity within the industry to ensure products are up to code; attends hearings as needed in order to argue points and propose changes; may submit letter on company’s position. • Acts as company representative for code development; prepares presentation of proposals. • Provides support for all field sales questions regarding issues with AHJ’s on all product codes, approvals & listings.• Assists and provides support to Product Managers with new product code review and product launches.Standards• Develops new standards for future product lines; writes standards in correct format; submits information to appropriate agency for review and coordinates documentation and products to be provided. • Coordinates with various departments to ensure product compliance to new or existing standards.• Develops business relationships with various reporting agencies in order to maintain up to date information and remain in good standing.• Participates and becomes a member of committees that work on proposed or changing standards; participate in internet balloting; task group conference calls; attends bi-annual organization meetings at various locations.• Researches product approvals from North, Central and South America to ensure standards are followed and procedures are comparable to US standards.• Initiates testing with agencies or through Viega Germany; coordinates and manages available product samples, lab time and staff availability.• Provides support for National and Industrial sales groups in working with engineering firms to ensure standards are update.Product Certifications• Acts as primary contact for all agencies to ensure our products are certified and in compliance.• Negotiates testing program’s content, frequency, location and associated costs.• Acts as project leader for all audit related corrective actions plan.• Works with and supports product managers on new product development plans.• Acts as representative for creation of new certification programs.Other• Attends meetings as required or assigned.• Performs other duties as required or assigned.Special Job Dimensions• Will be required to travel at least 50% of the timeREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills & Abilities• Knowledge of computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP• Knowledge and experience with plumbing and heating techniques and technologies• Good planning, organizational and reporting skills• Strong analytical skills• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Good political skills• Strong management skills• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and react quickly to urgent situations• Ability to effectively organize and motivate the involvement of others in several different projects• Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with;
