The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Water Resource Protection Department's Engineer. The position is responsible for the development, operation, maintenance and oversight of the Engineering CAD system. The position will also provide assistance to the Engineer for, but not limited to, onsite inspection services, design-implementation-oversight of small projects, surveying, and development of new application programs. Applicants must have excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills. The applicant must also be proficient with specialized software programs, have strong organizational skills and be capable of working independently with minimal direction. This position will require someone with energy, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. Qualified applicants must have graduated from a two-year CAD or engineering program with specialized course work in civil engineering practices, design, standards utilization, layout and software or a closely related field. This position requires five years of increasingly responsible CAD related experience with a strong emphasis on wastewater and civil related projects and a minimum of two years of responsible field inspection related experience. An Associates Degree or equivalent technical degree and AutoCAD or MicroStation experience is required. Experience with Raster Design/CAD Overlay, MicroStation IRAS B and any knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams is beneficial. Good background in mathematics and experience working with scales is preferred. Position will entail drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include physical layout drawings as well as electrical schematic and wiring diagrams.
