Hang wallboards and prepare them for further modification. Drywall installers read design plans in order to properly measure the wallboard and cut it to overall specifications as well as carve openings for electrical outlets, windows, vents, plumbing, and other fixtures. When they are finished preparing the panels, installers fasten them to interior wall studs with nails and screws. They then trim and smooth the edges until they join together fluidly.
Drywall tapers prepare the wallboards for paint or wallpaper. They patch nail holes, close joints between panels with tape and sealing compound, and sand seams or holes as necessary to produce a completely smooth surface. Many drywall personnel perform both installing and taping.
Lathers install metal framing, drywall, and lath in order to frame and support wallboards. They must be able to read and understand layout plans, blueprints, and building specifications in order to craft frameworks with correct dimensions.
