Primary estimating background and experience in the piping and mechanical disciplines. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess a working level ability to engage other discipline estimating efforts; develop construction, distributable, overhead, and indirect cost estimates; and perform cost estimate risk analyses to support estimate contingency recommendations. A minimum of three bids shall be obtained for all major trades.Treat all suppliers pricing as confidential.  Information is not shared with other suppliers or contractors.Double-check all calculations before submitting bid.  Review estimates with the President the day before bids are due..The Construction Manager, Commercial Project Manager and Estimator shall determine which Project Manager or Superintendent will be assigned the project. The Estimator will review all relevant job details that Project Manager when jobs are accepted and scheduled to begin.  All job expectations are to be communicated clearly and in writing.Return drawings and specifications to the architect or owner in a timely manner.Obtain checks from accounting for plan deposits.  Ensure return of checks when plans are returned.Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate figures.Assist Project Managers with price change orders as needed.Attend Management meetings, including those that may be requested by the President or Project Manager.Assist the President in the development of budget assumptions for strategic planning.  Establish the amount of bids required in order to meet the sales budget.  Determine other action to be taken if the available bids are not sufficient to meet the sales goals.Control the estimating process and software by constantly customizing and improving methods and assumptions.Perform all other duties deemed necessary by the President.Continuously conduct on the job training and cross training.Requirements: EducationRequired:  College degree from an accredited college or university.Preferred: College degree from an accredited college or university, BC Construction Management or Engineering degree.Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office/Excel, Timberline Estimating, CAD design Software, Primavera in addition to well developed budgeting, purchasing and organizational skills.
