Delivering solutions to meet our industrial and commercial clients’ environmental and energy objectives has been RMT’s fundamental business philosophy for 30 years. As an industry-leading wind and solar contractor, RMT provides full-service engineering and self-perform construction services to site, design, and construct over 3,800 MW of renewable energy facilities across the U.S. RMT self-performs significant amounts of civil infrastructure, foundations, turbine erection, and electrical work.   Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, RMT has over 600 employees located throughout the U.S. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Civil Estimator. Let RMT’s rapid growth be a springboard for your career – it all adds up to great rewards for you and the environment!   The Position: The Renewable Construction Senior Civil Estimator is responsible for gathering information to develop the project cost estimate for the bid and contract process for the assigned wind and solar projects. This position reports to the Renewable Construction Director of Estimating. In addition, this position will: ·         Participate in the development of complete estimates, with emphasis on quantity driven labor and equipment productivity recommendations, local labor rate determinations, equipment rental rate determinations, subcontractor identification and bid solicitations, material prices, logistics, scheduling, engineering, and project management costs, commercial terms and other issues, as required management’s approval. ·         Attend pre-construction planning, cost review, and post-construction completion analysis meetings. ·         Participate in negotiating final pricing, contracts, change orders, etc. as required. ·         Function as a member of proposal team in developing preliminary contract scope-of-work and as-sold cost estimates for distribution to those who plan, monitor and execute contracts. ·         Work from and analyze drawings, specifications, supplier quotations, engineering standards, estimating data/programs/databases and other information. ·         Coordinate with internal and external sources to establish project bids. ·         Prepare the project quantity survey/takeoff, cost summary of the entire project, original equipment proposal and contract cost estimates. ·         Personally work from or visit the project site to gather cost analysis used for estimating project costs. ·         Travel to meet with current and potential customers.   Requirements: ·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or Construction Management preferred. ·         10 or more years of large scale civil construction estimating and/or project management with emphasis on site work, large scale shallow trenching, access road construction, foundation excavation, concrete foundations, and the planning and rigging side of heavy / bulky lifts such as the large rotor assemblies. ·         Experience as a Senior or Chief Estimator preferred. ·         Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. ·         Ability to read and interpret project drawings. ·         Strong mathematical, analytical, problem solving and computer skills. ·         Proficient with Excel spreadsheets and computer estimating programs. ·         Ability to travel regularly to conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings. ·         Current 30-hour OSHA card is required. (Must be obtained within 30 days of employment.) ·         Must be willing to occasionally work at a project site, work long hours, and adhere to on-site work schedules when assigned to a field construction site. ·         When on-site, may be exposed to sunlight, inclement weather, excessive wind, heat, and/or noise, large equipment, fuels and other mechanical liquids, and walk on uneven terrain. Required to wear personal health and safety equipment on-site. ·         Successfully pass a drug test. ·         Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.   Compensation / Benefits are competitive and include health and life insurance, paid time away from work, employee referral bonus, tuition reimbursement, professional memberships, and eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and profit sharing. RMT focuses on supporting employee wellness, a safe work environment, and work-life balance.
