Description:
Reston, VA based commercial general contractor seeks site superintendent. This individual will provide overall project site coordination and supervision direction to assigned projects establishes site objectives and schedules. Will acts as comapnies site representative and liaison with subcontractors, vendors, client contacts and design team, and monitors construction site activities throughout all phases of the project. Responsible for site management activities include contract compliance, project schedule, site general conditions cost, quality control, project final delivery and punch-out, to meet client?s expectations. Supervise commercial construction projects on fast track schedules, to include medium to large scale high-end interior renovations and tenant build-outs, and base building work (new structures including Class A office buildings of medium scale). When assigned, conduct initial site investigation to support bid preparation phase of a project. Candidate must have minimum of five years experience in a supervisory capacity in commercial construction, or an Associate?s degree or two years of technical studies in a related field with no less than two years experience as a superintendent in commercial construction. Utilization of a computer is essential to performing the duties of this position. Must be thoroughly familiar with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and scheduling software (Microsoft Project). Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills and be highly organized and service-oriented. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines on a routine basis. Must be detail-oriented, assertive, persuasive, and results-oriented. Special skills include proficiency in working closely with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority. The environment for this position is in various construction work sites where duties will be performed throughout the work site, with routine exposure to the normal sights and sounds of a typical construction site environment. Routine exposure to loud noise, fumes, dust-producing activities, construction debris, and an environment undergoing construction or renovation work should be expected. Utilization of a computer and telephone is required. This position requires mobility throughout the entire work space and requires local travel in the Washington, DC area to project work sites and client offices for purposes of meetings and/or presentations, and to industry-related events for special programs, networking, and participation with industry-related organizations. Private transportation will be necessary. Physical demands include medium lifting and moving of construction materials, supplies, etc. of up to 100 pounds. Physical demands also include frequent walking throughout the construction site on a daily basis, which may include multiple floors via the use of stairs or hoists. Must be mobile and able to drive in an urban environment.
