Any operating skills (such as excavator and dozer) would be a plus because there is a lot of storm drainage and piecemeal municipal work on the project. We currently have an opportunity for a Civil/Concrete Superintendent. This position requires experience in Firm, Fixed Price construction, directing craft and managing subcontractors in the performance of work including construction of bridges, roads, and other public works. Previous work under contract to the U.S. military is a plus. The position requires demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of the construction site including Environmental, Health and Safety; quality; schedule; budget; and scope. The Superintendent will be responsible for: * interfacing with the Program and Project Managers to provide input for proposals to the Client, including the approach to the work and pricing, schedule, manpower loading, productivity, equipment and tool requirements. * recruiting, hiring, and directing construction craft workers; * interfacing with the subcontractors; * providing assistance in the identification, selection, and management of subcontractors, to include preparing the SOWs, analyzing the bids, and recommending awards based on best value; * managing the subcontracts during construction including ensuring conformance to specifications and standards, identifying quality issues and corrective measures, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget constraints, managing project completion, testing, punchlisting, and turnover; * reviewing and approving subcontractors' periodic invoices; * providing periodic (daily, weekly, or monthly) reports on the progress of the work; * reviewing and approving approval for changes from the subcontractors; * interfacing with the QA/QC organization and ensuring acceptance of the completed project; and * closing out all subcontracts.The Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent/Construction Manager, providing supervision of the project's site development, grading, pile driving, and heavy civil concrete construction. The Superintendent will be required to plan and execute construction projects from inception to closeout and will have demonstrated skills in baseline establishment and change identification and control. The qualified candidate will have held a similar position on construction projects for a minimum of 10 years. The qualfied candidate will have held progressively more responsible positions in the construction industry with emphasis on heavy civil earthwork and concrete construction. The qualified candidate will have demonstrated experience on projects through construction management of subcontractors as well as through direct supervision of the construction trades in self-performing the work. The qualified candidate will have a mix of experience with organized labor and open shop.
