Position is responsible for ensuring projects are built in accordance with the plans and specifications thus providing a safe and adequate infrastructure system. EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Inspects contractor's work procedures by being on site and familiar with plans and specifications; Checks inspection reports for description of contractor's work, calculations, and accuracy; Certifies that materials incorporated during construction are in conformance with contracts by reviewing lab test results; Identifies and resolves problems by gathering information or reviewing information gathered by others, analyzing the information, and resolving the problem or recommending the solution to the supervisor; Communicates verbally and/or corresponds with the contractors, other personnel in county, federal, state, and local agencies, utilities, motoring public, and other concerned citizens to notify them of any changes or information that will have an impact on them; Plans and coordinates with contractors, other county units and other entities involved to organize the project schedule; Keeps accurate documentation of all aspects of projects; Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required. REQUIREMENTS Experience - Four years experience in the design, construction and inspection of public construction projects. Three of the four years preferred with CDOT projects at a similar level. Training - Equivalent to two years of college or formal trade apprenticeship and/or specialized training in construction architecture, construction technology, civil engineering or a related field. License or Certificate- Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license. Completion of or ability to complete, State of Colorado Radiation Safety Officer Course. Possession of, or ability to obtain certification as an ACI Transportation Construction Inspector program, or the CRMCA Pavement Inspector program is acceptable. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check: Must pass a criminal (CBI) background check. This position reports to a field office environment Monday - Friday, with hours of 8:00 - 4:30 and overtime as needed. Travel will be required throughout the regional assignment to attend meetings.
