The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing a portion of GAF’s product spend, its suppliers and sourcing strategy. The assigned products constitute significant opportunity or risk to GAF.  Responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to: Drive the creation of a formal sourcing strategy for review and approval by key stakeholders through the management of  mostly internal cross-functional teams. The sphere of influence can extend to Marketing, R&D, Finance, GAF Manufacturing locations and other Corporate functions to engage their support for strategy approval and implementation. Oversee all aspects of the Supplier relationship including negotiations, contracts, partnerships, inventory levels and delivery modes Understand and document the following for purchased products: - Supplier identification, valuation and assessment - Supply/demand /capacity balances, trends and issues (internal & external) - Cost structures of materials including impact of underlying raw material cost driver trends - Methods and opportunities to lower GAF's total cost of ownership - Ability to negotiate value for GAF from multiple perspectives covering requirements, purchase price,  contractual terms & conditions and total cost - Supplier performance covering price, quality, delivery and support - Make / buy decision process and timing considerations - Forecasting of forward price indicators to support business budget needs   Job Requirements: Demonstrated record of strong purchasing management skills and results (contract experience, negotiations, etc) Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills Strategic focus, with ability to convert strategy into executable plans and drive results Demonstrated material analysis and benchmarking experience including cost analysis Ability to perform market research on alternative vendors and products within the space Demonstrated experience with IT systems including the Microsoft Office Suite and an ERP system. PeopleSoft experience preferred Excellent project management skills including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and to work in a matrix environment Strong planning, organizing, problem solving and decision making skills A bachelor's degree is required in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business.
