Coordinates inspection of tenant improvement (TI) and development projects to ensure compliance with specific plans and specifications and all District requirements. 4. Review plans and specifications prior to their advertisement; reviews and makes recommendations for progress payments, contract change orders, and as-built plans, and work in progress, which includes ascending building or equipment under construction, descending into excavations, traversing areas under construction and other construction, or major maintenance contract inspection requirements; negotiates change orders valued at less than $1,000. 6. Prepares daily and special progress reports. 7. Ensures contractor constructs project in accordance with plans, specifications and codes and is in compliance with all federal, state and local rules, regulations and code, including health, safety and environmental requirements. 8. Verifies field measurements/quantities for contract payments and provides contract completion data on projects with multi-million dollar budgets. 9. Recommends engineering field solutions to design and construction problems. 10. Ensures the District?s interests are fulfilled with regard to quality of construction and quantities paid; documents contractor compliance with safety and environmental requirements. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS* Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and at least three years experience working in public works construction as an inspector, skilled tradesman, foreman or superintendent with experience in reading and applying specifications, building codes, and understanding and interpreting plans. A current, valid California Class C driver?s license at time of appointment and maintained at all times thereafter in order to operate a vehicle on District business. HAZWOPER Certification may be required to obtain up to 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, which includes passing a physical examination within six months of employment and complete 8 hours of HAZWOPER refresher training annually. May be required to obtain within six months of employment first aid and CPR certification and maintain these qualifications.
