Heavy Equipment Operator

Position Summary 

Operator is a full-time hourly position.  Operator operates heavy equipment in the completion of heavy civil construction projects in a safe and efficient manner and according to federal and state heavy highway regulations. 

 

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions (Level 1) 

  • Safely, efficiently and effectively operate heavy equipment 
  • Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals 

  • Be constantly aware of your surroundings while operating heavy equipment, as to not injure persons or property 

  • Use GPS to achieve horizontal and vertical control, if applicable 

  • Proficiently operate: 

  1. Trackhoe 
  2. Large and small bulldozer 
  3. Skid steers 
  4. Roller compactors 

 

  • AND/OR  

  1. Asphalt lay down machines 

  2. Asphalt rollers  

  3. Milling machines 

  • Conduct daily pre and post work inspections on Company equipment, as to identify any safety or maintenance issues 

  • Promote, execute and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and encourage all co-workers to do the same 

  • May perform other duties as assigned 

 

 

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions (Level 2) 

Same as Operator 1, but must also be able to: 

  • Load and unload heavy equipment from transport trailers when necessary 

  • Proficiently operate:  

  1. Finish dozer 

  2. Finish motor grader  

 

  • Proficient at calculating off of grade stakes
