Senior Electrical Systems Utility Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY
Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Compensation: $90,000$120,000 annually + up to 10% annual bonus and performance bonuses

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

At least 7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience OR 10+ years of total experience in electrical systems design, utilities, or power plant construction

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required; NY PE preferred, but candidates with an out-of-state PE must be willing to pursue NY licensure

Experience in manufacturing, industrial plants, power generation, or power distribution

Knowledge of utility interconnects and infrastructure projects

Strong project management experience, especially with capital projects

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams), Bluebeam Revu, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Maximo

Familiarity with SKM Systems Analysis software (load flow, arc flash, etc.)

Deep understanding of low (110V600V) and medium (600V34.5KV) voltage systems and metering

A self-starter with the ability to think strategically and deliver results

Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities

Willingness to work scheduled and emergency overtime as needed

Develop and maintain a long-term strategic master plan for the facilitys electrical distribution system

Serve as the subject matter expert on all medium-voltage (600V to 34.5KV) equipment including substations, switchgear, and transformers

Support low-voltage systems including VFDs, general distribution, and motors

Perform system analysis and power quality assessments using SKM software
-
Manage and support capital and maintenance projects, including contractor oversight

Provide day-to-day technical support for the facilitys electrical infrastructure

Coordinate NYISO generator modeling and interconnection requests

Serve as the liaison with the local utility for interconnect operation and updates

Support building system infrastructure (lighting, HVAC, fire alarm, IT, UPS, etc.)

Advise on NFPA electrical safety compliance in collaboration with EHS personnel.
