at Good Source Trucking Inc in west chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description GOOD SOURCE TRUCKING INC (West Chicago, IL) seeks a Safety Manager to implement safety policies, ensure compliance with transportation regulations, manage fleet and driver safety, conduct training, and maintain certifications and documentation. Responsibilities include accident prevention and compliance monitoring. Specific Duties: Manage the safety of the fleet, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition; Ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA guidelines at the local, state, and federal levels; Develop and implement safety policies, conduct accident investigations, and hold drivers accountable for compliance; Design and deliver driver safety training programs, accident prevention initiatives, and safety campaigns; Run MVR and PSP reports using platforms like HireRight and Clearinghouse to identify potentially unsafe drivers; Schedule and track pre-employment and random drug or alcohol tests through Med Stop and Trans Lab; Track driver CDL and medical card expirations, ensuring timely renewals; Schedule and track fleet annual inspections with licensed inspectors; Monitor HOS (Hours of Service) logs and provide training for violations; Assist with obtaining necessary transportation permits, including oversize/overweight and alcohol-hauling permits; Address DataQ challenges to rectify unfair DOT inspection records; Prepare monthly or quarterly mileage and compliance reports for insurance companies and states; Handle insurance claims (auto and cargo) and assist drivers involved in accidents by obtaining police reports and other necessary documentation; Maintain and organize FMCSA and DOT-regulated paperwork, ensuring physical and digital compliance for fleet vehicles; Participate in safety meetings, insurance audits, and renewal processes, implementing recommendations as needed. Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Engineering or a related field or foreign equivalent. 6 months of experience in the job offered, as a dispatcher, fleet manager, or a similar position in the logistics company. Must have 6 months experience in each of the following: 1) running MVR and PSP reports using platforms like HireRight and conducting Clearinghouse queries, 2) managing regulatory challenges through DataQ submissions, and 3) coordinating drug and alcohol testing programs via Med Stop and Trans Lab.
