Job Description:
Spencer seeks a Development Coordinator to support the Executive Director in executing the annual fundraising plan. The ideal candidate will have experience with fundraising event planning and management, researching grant opportunities and writing compelling grant proposals, managing grant reporting, major gifts and fundraising campaigns, and donor/donation management.
Responsibilities:
Donor and Donation Management:
Researching and identifying potential donors
Maintaining accurate donor information in Givebutter
Creating and overseeing online fundraising campaigns in Givebutter
Tracking donor giving history and engagements
Requesting invoices and tracking donation payments
Sending thank-you letters and donor updates
Creating presentation materials to educate donors on partnership opportunities
Fundraising Event Planning: Spencer currently hosts four fundraising events per year - Gala, Pickleball Social, Golf Tournament, 5K Fun Run - and one donor appreciation event. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for
Conceptualizing and planning each event
Managing event logistics including venue selection, catering, decorations, and volunteer recruitment
Working with third parties as needed to execute each event
Developing event marketing materials and promotional strategies
Overseeing event budgets and tracking expenses
Supporting additional events that are organized by other organizations to Spencer's benefit
Proposing and creating new events where feasible
Grant Writing and Proposal Development:
Researching potential grant opportunities
Writing compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and required documentation
Managing grant reporting deadlines
Reporting and Analysis:
Generating regular reports on fundraising progress, including donor acquisition, retention, and giving trends
Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and inform future development strategies
Requirements:
A Bachelor's or Associate's degree plus at least 7 years of related work. Preference will be given to candidates with either prior work experience in the Risk Management or Insurance sector and/or a nonprofit environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
Ability to adapt in rapidly changing environments.
A fast learner with the ability to learn new skills including systems/platforms/software.
Proficiency in finance and accounting systems a plus.
Ability to travel at least three times per year, more if desired
Participation in local Risk Management and Insurance events is highly encouraged.
