Business Unit Controller / CFO Location: Queens, NY (5 days onsite) Compensation: $250k-300k base plus bonus About the Role: Major Construction company is seeking an experienced CFO to lead and manage all financial operations for a high-growth business unit projected to generate $250M-$400M in annual revenue. Reporting to the VP of Finance Operations at our parent company, this role is a strategic leadership position with broad oversight of accounting, financial controls, cash management, internal controls, and compliance. As a key member of the Senior Management team, you will lead a dedicated finance staffincluding project controllers, coordinators, and accounting personneland play a vital role in driving financial performance, process improvements, and business insights. Key Responsibilities: Lead all accounting and control operations across the business unit, building and developing a high-performing finance team. Manage the monthly closing process for construction operations; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. Oversee cash management activities including forecasting, collections, disbursements, and reporting to the parent company. Maintain a strong internal control environment compliant with SOX and public company standards. Lead audit processes and proactively address financial risks. Identify and implement process automation and efficiency improvements within the finance function. Provide expert guidance on technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition and accounting for change orders and claims. Deliver timely financial and operational insights to executive leadership with actionable recommendations. Participate in special projects and respond to ad hoc requests from senior leadership. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred. 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience in the construction industry . Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with JD Edwards, Hyperion, and ESSBase strongly desired. Proven track record in both strategic planning and tactical execution within finance functions. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; able to work across all levels of the organization. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Detail-oriented and results-driven, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities. Self-starter who can work independently while managing a team and multiple initiatives simultaneously. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
