Selection for interview is based on evaluation of complete application file. Employment offer is based on employee evaluations, discipline history and attendance records, training and experience, references, and interview results. Hourly rate placement contingent upon verification of related WA public school experience.

This position is included in the classified staff non-supervisory bargaining unit. Union shop requirements and the Collective Bargaining Agreement apply to this position.

Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.

Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.

Eligibility for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave, vacation leave (260-day employees only), and sick leave prorated based on FTE.

Plumber / Mechanical

Responsible to:
Supervisor, Maintenance and Operations

Work Year: 260 Days / 8.00 hours per day

General:
Participate in the work of installing, inspecting, maintaining and repairing all types of Plumbing, Irrigation, Wastewater, Stormwater, and plumbing systems and equipment in various school buildings and facilities. Instruct and supervise assistants as necessary in their responsibilities and work requirements.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License
  • Plumber PLO2 or Higher State of Washington Certification
  • Formal training or 6-years work experience in related fields of job responsibilities as outlined.
  • Computer skills relevant to District’s network use (email, work orders, etc.) and relevant to operating/monitoring building systems (Electrical, alarms, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain valid CPR and First Aid card.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand schematic drawings and technical manuals.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Install, maintain and repair: Potable water systems as well as Wastewater. Assist in operation of Boilers and Hydronic heating systems.
  • Adjust, maintain and repair Hot water tanks, backflows and irrigation
  • Install, adjust, maintain and repair Pumps in vaults, equipment and instruments including, but not limited to, pumps, faucets, flush valves, urinals, toilets, circulation pumps, pressure pumps, metering devices, power tools and Backflows.
  • Troubleshoot and assist Fire Sprinklers and Boilers
  • Install, maintain and repair District Infrastructure.
  • Clean, maintain and repair power and hand tools.
  • Assist in estimating materials and time needed to complete jobs; pick up materials from sources as necessary or required.
  • Assist the maintenance department in completing other maintenance tasks.
  • Perform such other duties as, from time to time, may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Instruct and supervise assistants as necessary in their responsibilities and work requirements.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
