Description

The General Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a construction site to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and timely manner.

DUTIES:

  • Lead and manage the on-site construction teams, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation.

  • Serve as a liaison between customers, vendors, project managers, and other employees regarding current and future projects.

  • Responsible for control of crew costs including effective use of manpower, work methods, and operation of equipment.

  • Work with Project Superintendent to pre-plan work schedules and determine manpower levels, materials and equipment necessary for project productivity.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, materials, and equipment deliveries.

  • Read specifications, such as blueprints to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.

  • Set and oversee production goals and daily production tracking.

  • Manage equipment and material resources efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

  • Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met.

  • Conducts safety training of assigned personnel in accordance with safety training procedures.

  • Investigates accident reports, damage claims, and may be a designated representative to settle minor damage or injury claims.

  • Complete and submit daily to Superintendent the Foreman Daily Report.

  • All other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred).

  • 5 years of industrial construction experience with 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and project specifications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.

  • Experience managing crews and subcontractors preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds or more.

  • Must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.

  • Position requires long periods of stooping, bending, and standing.

  • Must be able to, walk, climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; kneel or crouch; talk; hear.
