Job Scope

Landscape Supervisor is a fulltime position with Shea Properties (Shea), D/B/A Tech Center Maintenance (TCM), responsible for assisting and filling in for managers and supervisors in coordinating projects and crews, the execution and delivery of high-quality services associated with landscape maintenance activities, and special projects within the assigned portfolio. The Landscape Supervisor is expected to provide leadership while maintaining a positive attitude to ensure a safe and fun work environment is promoted. The pay range for this position is $30.00 to $36.00/hour and the Landscape Supervisor is also eligible to participate in the snow incentive program and discretionary annual bonus plan. Job Duties

  • Responsible for the daily crew work assignments.

  • Create routine mowing and maintenance schedule. Real-time modifications, as necessary due to absence and special requests.

  • Quality assurance with property checks after maintenance activities and regular communication with property engineers or managers.

  • Report problems found on properties, suggest enhancements or projects to Managers that might improve properties assigned.

  • Oversee assigned special projects including landscape, cleanup, annual maintenance, and other projects as assigned, including crew assignments and material procurement in coordination with Manager or Assistant Manager.

  • Actively participate in company-wide safety program ensuring safety and participation of crewmembers. Deliver and/or oversee training of crew members, tailgate meetings, annual equipment rodeo and record keeping for all safety activities.

  • Oversee and conduct daily equipment checks to ensure safety before they leave the yard.

  • Conduct daily crew checks for proper uniform and PPE.

  • Manage time and attendance records of all crew members on both ADP and Exact time to ensure accurate time keeping to ensure accurate crew members pay, as well as accurate job coding for billing. Supervisor will check and attest through approval process these records are correct.

  • Track and report time of temporary employees assigned to crews.

  • Oversee or inspect landscape installations or repairs performed by outside contractors in coordination with Manager or Assistant Manager.

  • Assist Managers and Assistant Managers with annual or impromptu tasks such as special safety meetings, equipment inventory and other similar tasks.

  • Participate in snow removal process, including planning, monitoring, plowing, and recordkeeping

  • Conduct regular performance discussions.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)

  • Minimum 5 year of progressive responsibility in landscape maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office necessary.
  • Must possess positive and effective communication skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Landscape industry certifications are highly desirable.

Work Environment

The Landscape Supervisor work schedule varies depending on weather. Hours are normally from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is required to work weekends (Sat/Sun) or late at night if there are heavy snow falls or emergencies. However, the Landscape Supervisor should be flexible and on call depending on the needs of the customers.

Work is primarily performed in a field setting, on diverse grounds surrounding apartment units, office, industrial and retail space environments and occasionally performed in an office environment. With regular exposure to heavy vehicle traffic conditions, frequent street-traffic and equipment noise, working with/near moving motorized equipment and hand-tools, mechanical parts, chemicals and airborne particles. Will work in all weather conditions, with constant interruptions, risk of electrical shock and potentially explosive gases. The incumbent will be exposed to wet, humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and work with various landscape materials including, yet not limited to the following dirt, sod, concrete, and wood materials, in earth-trenches and tight enclosed environments

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, and reach with hands and arms and lift objects up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to be proficient in speaking to customers, and have flexible and adaptable vision, including close, peripheral, depth-perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate company vehicle during the course of duties.
