Transportation Engineer 3, Office of Contract Sales & Estimating, PN 20049400
What You Will Do:
- Prepares official Engineers' Estimates for diverse civil projects by interpreting construction plans and applying both historical and cost-based estimating methods.
- Analyzes bids and project documents to detect unbalanced pricing, potential manipulation, and costly plan errors-then communicates findings to leadership.
- Uses AASHTOWare Preconstruction and data tools like Excel to develop tailored cost models and time estimates for complex construction activities.
- Supports management by evaluating change orders, reviewing value engineering proposals, and responding to budgetary inquiries.

Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers or 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
- Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
