Estimator / Jr. Estimator - Commercial Carpentry
General Summary of Position
This position is expected to produceaccurate quotes, review contracts and provide customers with a positive biddingexperience with little to no assistance from senior management.
Essential (Core Competencies) Duties
- Produce mistake-free quotes as requestedby our customers.
- Entering individual bid informationaccurately into Bid Matrix.
- Assist project management with anyissues that may arise during a project.
- Participate in project descope andhandoff meetings.
- Read through specs, addenda, and RFIsand make appropriate changes to bid.
- Read and interpret working drawings.
- Build dollar amount of quote usingmaterial pricing, labor productions and quantities.
- Finalize quote and send to GC.
- Rebid project as required.
- Contact general contractor/client todiscuss project details.
- Collect pricing from appropriate vendorsby phone call and email.
- Follow template to create bid proposal.
- Detailed oriented
- Contact the specific Architect firm andrequest the bid list when applicable
- Assist in bid review for Jr. Estimators.
- Perform contract review to ensure thescope of work, contract dollars and documents match the quote.
- Download drawings and applicableconstruction documentation from appropriate file share sites.
- Import drawings to OnScreen Takeoff.
- Special projects as assigned bymanagement.
- Create and manage personal databasewithin On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent computer skills includingMicrosoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Associates or bachelors degree inArchitecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related study.
- 2+ years estimating for a commercialcarpentry subcontractor.
- Prior commercial carpentry experience.
- Experience in Quickbid and OnScreenTakeoff.
- Knowledge of customer base and customerrelations.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints though not required for the position
- The ability to achieve thoroughness andaccuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all areas involved.
- The need to be self-motivated to grow personallyand professionally through on-going education as a result of the rate of changein the position.
- The ability to demonstrate concern formeeting internal and external customer needs in a manner that providessatisfaction for the customer within the resources that can be made available.
- The ability to successfully adapt(personally & professionally) to changes in the internal and externalenvironment.
- The ability to focus on and meet targetgoals and objectives.
- The ability to evaluate, select and acton various methods and strategies for solving problems and meeting objectivesbefore being asked or required to do so.
- The ability to balance multiplepriorities simultaneously.
- The ability to: 1) convey throughs andexpress ideas effectively using speech in individual or group situations;attends to and fully comprehends what others are saying and 2) use clear &succinct written communication in the execution of this position to effectivelytransmit data, instructions, processes, procedures, etc.

The work environment will consist mainly of a normal, climatecontrolled, office environment.
