Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer/Senior Landscape Architect to lead work on stormwater planning, design, and construction documents for stormwater retrofit, transportation, and site development projects, as well as lead client engagement and business development out of our Portland, OR office.
As a Senior Stormwater Engineer/Senior Landscape Architect, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting and engaging infrastructure projects, including some of the region's leading large-scale projects and programs for local agencies and municipalities. In this position you will lead stormwater analysis and design and hydrologic & hydrologic (H&H) modeling for a variety of water resources-related projects, including water quality retrofits and habitat restoration, as well as transportation projects (e.g., transit, site development, highway, and light rail extensions). Work may include design from concept level to final construction documents, including writing and assembling stormwater and H&H reports; preparing and/or managing illustrative exhibits for project proposals, concept developments, and public presentations; and/or, supporting construction administration. Candidates with a wide variety of successful design and task leadership experience would be viewed favorably. Typical activities may include performing H&H analysis; providing and/or QC'ing detailed calculations; overseeing the production of construction plans, drainage reports, specifications, and cost estimates; communicating designs and technical information to clients, stakeholders, permitting agencies, and internal team members; and, delegating similar tasks to early- and mid-career staff. H&H software typically used for projects include the Western Washington Hydrology Model (WWHM), MGSFlood, SWMM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, and others required to meet State, local, and Federal agency requirements.
You will have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the development and creation of storm drainage plans for complex, multi-disciplined projects, with the potential for multiple types of construction delivery methods, such as design-build. Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineeringand/ or Landscape Architecture degree (BLA/BSLA/MLA)
- 10+ years of experience working in H&H analysis, drainage and BMP/LID design, as well as watershed modeling
- Technically-focused, with demonstrated experience developing contract documents, including plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates
- Ability to work independently, manage design tasks, and mentor early-career staff
- Ability to lead and direct project teams while overseeing design and project development
- PE license or PLA license
- Strong experience with CAD design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Experience with hydrologic modeling using WWHM, MGS Flood, SWMM, PCSWMM, XPSWMM, and/or InfoWorks ICM
- Existing relationships and business development experience with clients in Oregon and southwest Washington on stormwater programs and projects
- Desire to lead teams, win work, and drive business development
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
- Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering; or, Masters of Landscape Architecture
- Experience in consulting for public agencies
- Familiarity with Oregon and Washington state, regional, and local stormwater regulations, policies, and design/performance standards
- Familiarity with developing Temporary Erosion Sediment Control (TESC) plans, Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (CSWPPP), DEQ Compliance, and stormwater master plans
- Microstation Inroads or Openroads design experience
- Envision Sustainability Professional or LEED Accredited Professional
- Strong graphic experience with CAD design software and Adobe Creative Suite

The base salary range for this position is $107,800.00 to $188,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
