We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team to support project execution teams by maintaining alignment between internal project execution plans, contract delivery dates, busines objectives and an overall portfolio level resource plan. Coordinate and manage the technical execution of the engineering, production, installation and commissioning activities by serving as the technical point of contact on the project.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

In alignment with Integrated Product Teams, the Sr. Project Engineer manages the flow of internal project execution across the operations departments during the lifecycle of the project. The key deliverable to the organization is a resource loaded project schedule that feeds into the JETS Execution System, providing continuously updated project information and informing project discussions and decisions within the context of the portfolio.

Coordinate with systems engineers and lead engineers to facilitate where needed the technical execution of the project activities by :

  • Tracking system design against requirements
  • Engaging with customer and vendor technical teams to gather information
  • Leading inter-departmental technical discussions in support of issue resolution
  • Coordinate inter-departmental deliverables such as drawings, specifications and test procedures in alignment with project execution plans.

Engage with project execution teams on a regular basis to ensure the team is aligned with the plan, track progress on current tasks, and review any potential changes to upcoming activities.

Work with the other members of the Operations Planning team to ensure resources are allocated across the portfolio of projects in alignment with contract delivery dates and overall business objectives.

Track and mitigate internal project risks and issues using formal risk and issue management tools.

Continuously interface with project managers to stay in synch on customer scope or schedule changes. Directly support customer engagements as needed to communicate details associated with a given plan.

Carefully track project scope using the Execution Plan baseline and support project managers with cost and schedule impact assessments of customer requests.

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in related discipline
  • 5+ years in related discipline
  • Previous experience in a related engineering or project management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Superior collaboration and teamwork working problems with multiple conflicting solutions
  • Experience with Project Engineering tools and technologies (Microsoft Project preferred)
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated self- starter with the ability to work well in a team setting
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail

The salary range provided is a general guideline. Actual pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and other applicable qualifications. Calspan is committed to pay transparency in compliance with applicable state and local laws.
