POSITION OVERVIEW :

The St. Paul Park Refinery has a full-time opening for a Construction Coordinator, an exempt position which reports to the Turnaround & Construction Supervisor. The coordinators primary job duties are to supervise engineered projects for the assigned team or engineer and to work as a liaison between the outside Contractors, Operations and Maintenance Departments along with other duties and projects as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs inspection, instruction, and supervision of contract employees. This includes facilitation of contractor selections.
  • Responsible for hiring and forecasting of contractor manpower for all expense classes (RM/MM/CP/ER)
  • Optimize manpower across all maintenance work fronts
  • Directs the safe and efficient operation of the assigned department goals
  • Supervises various activities to carry out major maintenance and construction projects
  • Coordinates various construction activities amongst various contractors to effectively complete a project
  • Develops and maintains construction management tools for various phases of projects
  • Provides routine feedback to contractors in the form of performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and corrective action as necessary.
  • Participating in Incident Investigations
  • Recommendation procedures to increase efficiency
  • Assist in drawing reviews as needed with constructability input
  • Develop, maintain, and report contractor performance metrics
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree or 5+ years of construction coordination experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Mechanical and Civil aptitude
  • Read and understand P&IDs and mechanical isometrics
  • Knowledge of general refinery equipment and components

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An understanding of Microsoft Project or P6 a plus
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar EAP
