Refrigeration Technician Job Description As a Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling various equipment including condenser units, pumps, air handlers, heat exchangers, and other mechanical equipment. You will install and maintain temperature control systems and perform planned maintenance, regular servicing, and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes, and temperature ranges. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair equipment such as condenser units, pumps, air handlers, heat exchangers, and other mechanical equipment. Install and maintain temperature control systems, electric valves, heat transfer equipment, ventilation, and air distribution equipment. Read gauges and instruments to adjust mechanisms for fluid pressure and distribution. Operate refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines. Solder with sil-fos and silver solder, layout, and fit piping. Test malfunctioning systems using electrical, mechanical, digital, and pneumatic controls. Maintain air makeup systems, chillers, evaporators, and drain lines. Order parts and materials for repairs and maintain refrigeration stock. Initiate continuous improvement activities for facility power systems such as refrigeration, steam, and water. Assist in the maintenance, installation, operation, and repair of boiler and pressure systems. Follow and enforce plant-wide and equipment safety rules/procedures. Maintain records of repairs or equipment requiring future service. Coordinate work with the maintenance planner. Submit Daily Activity Sheet and invoices. Ensure regular and reliable transportation and attendance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Completion of a two-year technical college degree program for industrial refrigeration maintenance or Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Working knowledge of freon, boilers, compressors, motors, pumps, sheet metal, grease, oil, and belt applications. Basic knowledge of plant electrical AC/DC power and control systems associated with refrigeration equipment. Ability to perform precision welding meeting food plant sanitary standards using MIG wire-feed, and heli-arc on stainless steel applications. Ability to perform precision cutting using a plasma torch. Demonstrated routine performance of preventative/proactive maintenance activities on all assigned equipment. Proper use of CMMS program (MP2) for maintenance-related activities. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $104000.00 - $145600.00/yr.
