Knowesis is currently seeking an experienced Medical Simulation Operator to support a government training program in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, hands-on experience with medical simulation technologies, the ability to support scenario design, course development, performance evaluation, and equipment operations in a dynamic training environment.
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a Tier 1 background check and CAC card.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical expertise and support on operating a high-tech patient simulator system and assist in developing metrics to validate a simulation-based team training program.
Assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams for the purpose of improving patient outcomes.
Provide technical and analytic support for the Team Training Program at CSTARS Baltimore.
Collaborate with USAFSAM CSTARS Baltimore personnel to deliver digital video recording support, maintain existing equipment, analyze team training measures, design simulation scenarios, and provide technical expertise in operating simulators within a constrained/controlled simulation environment.
Use a state-of-the-art Learning Management system.
Primary support will be used to view and evaluate rotators during the performance of initial and post-trauma assessments for later analysis and end-of-scenario feedback of all team and leadership performance measures established by USAFSAM.
Provide analysis and gathering of team performance during pre- and post-simulated conditions in order to establish a correlation between pre- and post-performance. Utilize and complete the collection and tracking of simulation evaluation tools.
Assist with development, data collection, data analysis, and Administration of all pre- and post-simulation scenarios.
Prepare training environments and recover equipment scheduled for training upon request by USAFSAM Staff.
Conduct orientation to the simulation equipment and environment, and provide an overview of the human patient simulator.
Assist in the management and support of the daily operations of the simulation training program.
Assist in the development of simulation program validation metrics.
Cooperatively with the applicable program analysis, course curriculum advisors, course program director, IM/IT, medical logistics, and site simulation center leadership to identify operational needs. Based on these identified needs, the contractor shall develop recommendations to address simulation/course shortfalls.
Assist the program course director during the patient simulation scenario review process.
Develop and provide training, safety, and maintenance materials appropriate to the operation of all simulation equipment as directed by the Simulation Program Coordinator or as warranted by operational necessity.
Attend all strategic planning meetings and teleconferences, as well as meetings and conferences to improve the patient simulated course experience and delivery of course content.
Assist and guide with the simulation center set-up.
Provide consultative assistance to program course management regarding future site expansion, as well as high-fidelity HPS recommendations.
Ensure that simulation education, program key elements, and learning objectives are taken into account, and ensure simulation training outcome measurements meet course and skill sustainment requirements.
Be responsible for reporting needs regarding simulation supplies & equipment in support of course training scenarios targeted at meeting identified learning objectives.
Effectively operate the simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized Hi-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers individually or in combination, with the ability to follow legitimate medical aspects of scenarios, and shall make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions or inactions PRN.
Create troubleshooting documents, simulation checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios for simulation equipment.
These products will be forwarded to the program course director for review.
Support USAFSAM simulation research projects within the capacity of the Simulator Operator PWS.
Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting items to train additional cadre members.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a National Registered Paramedic (NRP) or equivalent certification.
- Paramedic equivalent medical knowledge (with RN level preferred) as the Simulation operator to be able to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants' responses to simulated scenarios.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience in a military or civilian setting.
- Prior experience in course development and education methodology.
- Knowledge of Trauma clinical skills, procedures, and processes to include Air Force Medical Services Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards.
- Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines, policy & procedure through successful completion of the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and the Department's orientation programs is required.
- Must be able to lift > 50 pounds and human patient simulation equipment from one room to another, as well as work in low-light, high auditory volume environments, and differing weather conditions, simulating actual aeromedical evacuation missions.
- Be certified in Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint applications is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Military medical or deployment experience.
Experience with Learning Management Systems, audio/visual tools, moulage, or hyper-realistic simulators and task-trainers.
