Building Maintenance Mechanic

Two Positions Available.

Are you a certified technical school graduate in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade with two years of hands-on experience in general maintenance? Chatham County Facilities Maintenance and Operations invites you to join our team as a Building Maintenance Mechanic, where you'll apply your skilled expertise in various trades and contribute to the efficient operation of our facilities.

Under general direction, you

• Perform skilled and complex journeyperson level maintenance and repair work in various trades, including carpentry, masonry, electrical work, painting, plumbing, and/or heating and air conditioning.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Operate a County vehicle.
• May use your instructional skills to supervise other employees.
• Read blueprints and sketches.
• Perform work that is physically demanding, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED, with vocational or technical school certification in at least one of the following: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade, and
• Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the repair of commercial building systems.
