Job Summary: Project Team Leader who Supervises the ongoing field operations of self-perform framing & siding activities on large projects ranging in size from $50MM - $150MM (Project) / $5MM - $20MM (Framing & Siding). Responsible for managed work, including mobilization and project set-up, panel design coordination, deliveries and logistics, general project organization, planning, safety, managing staffing/labor/subcontractors/vendors, quality control, scheduling, documentation, punch list, inventory, demobilization and project closeout to complete the work on time, within budget, and to a quality specified. Responsible for always operating in the best interest of Shaw Construction & The Project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Shaw Self-Perform Framing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the wood framing and siding process on a project ensuring quality, safety and timely completion by managing a crew of framers/siders, coordinating material/panel delivery and verifying adherence to contract documents and building codes while maintaining a clean and organized jobsite.

  • Proficient knowledge with framing and siding scopes of work, methods and techniques

  • The ability to read, understand and follow construction documents including drawings of all disciplines, specifications, submittals and shop drawings

  • The ability to perform framing and building layout and verify field dimensions

  • Expertise in using equipment and tools (power and hand) required to perform framing/siding scope of work

  • Project scheduling and framing crew management to plan, develop, implement, oversee and verify framing/siding sequence of work. Ability to collaborate and communicate project scheduling with all other trades and the Shaw Main Project Scheduling process. Oversee and monitor project progress against milestone schedule and the ability to identify and remedy potential and/or actual schedule delays and impacts. Monitor, track and direct adjustments needed with labor production and efficiency

  • Develop and manage site logistics and material/equipment deliveries

  • Evaluate material and equipment usage to minimize waste and an efficient and safe handling process

  • Inspect framing/siding scope of work daily to ensure compliance with building codes, contract documents and project specifications

  • Verify proper installation of all framing/siding products including but not limited to fabricated wall panels, studs, joists, beams, trusses, flashings, siding etc.

  • Check for accuracy in measurements, level and plumbness

  • Address and document any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions

  • Enforce all safety protocols on the jobsite including proper use of PPE personal protective equipment

  • Conduct safety meetings with the framing/siding crews to address potential hazards. Participate and communicate with all other trades and the Shaw Main Project to ensure a safe work environment

  • Conduct daily morning huddles to review daily crew assignments, safety, schedule and quality tasks and milestones

  • Communicate and document effectively with all members of the project including project managers, project engineers, subcontractors, inspectors and all Shaw project team members

  • Prepare for and attend weekly Shaw Team Coordination Meetings (Shaw Main Project and Shaw Self-Perform Coordination) and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings

  • Train and mentor Shaw team members, framing/siding crew members

  • Resolve conflicts within the crew and address performance issues

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Ensure Quality through Shaws 1,2,3 QA/QC program including proper installation, backout, punch list and general quality. Specifically:

  • Manage & Conduct Pre-planning meetings

  • Manage & Conduct daily morning huddles

  • Manage & Conduct first installation inspections

  • Manage & Conduct safety & scheduled inspections

  • Manage & Conduct quality control & punchlist inspections / corrections

  • Project documentation:

  • Submittal / Shop Drawing Review & Panel Design Coordination

  • RFIs

  • Daily reports

  • Time cards

  • Safety Inspections

  • Safety training

  • Schedule updates

  • QA/QC inspections

  • Notices / Notifications

  • Collaborate and Assist Self Perform Project Manager with managing the project schedule and budget including project labor, material and equipment management / forecasting, internal / external reporting, accounting etc.

  • Coordinate with equipment manager for the rental of Shaw internal equipment and storage of material.

  • Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as needed for project specific scope requirements

Other Duties:

  • Attend and participate in company trainings / meetings / retreats
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Shaw internal / subcontractor relationships.
  • Promote, Educate and Utilize self perform department divisions including yard functions panel / equipment / tools, logistics, concrete, survey & BIM

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise foremen, carpenters, laborers, and field / project engineers including Shaw employees, subcontractors and hourly personnel as assigned. Manage and Maintain Project Site Equipment and Tools

Education/Experience:

  • Ten years of building construction experience required

  • Five years carpentry experience required

Certifications/Required Training:

  • First Aid / CPR
  • Aerial Lift / Scissor Lift / Forklift (if applicable)
  • Rigging (if applicable)
  • Competent Person (Scaffolding, Fall Protection)

Skills Required:

  • Strong Carpentry Skills are Required
  • Leadership abilities and knowledge of construction practices and safety regulations are Required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general construction practices and techniques, construction document reading, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of current building codes. Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
  • Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs & Procore/Autodesk.
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Compensation:

  • Pay Type: Salary (exempt)
  • Pay Range: $95,000 to $120,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
  • Other Compensation: Bonus commensurate with individual performance, company performance, and experience.
