ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

To supervise and work in conjunction with skilled plumbers engaged in installing, maintaining and repairing hot and cold water, heating, gas, air, sewage and drainage systems.

To cut, bend, thread, assemble, wipe and solder various pipes, fittings, joints, valves, cocks, etc. in connection with installing, altering, replacing and repairing plumbing systems.

To maintain, adjust and repair thermostatic mixing valves and various hydrotherapy equipment.

To analyze and interpret blueprints and sketches and obtain required materials, supplies and equipment from stock, and issue same to skilled plumbers.

To locate, when necessary, various sources of trouble from primary and secondary indications and take necessary steps to correct such trouble.

To be responsible for the performance of plumbing duties in connection with cafeteria equipment, such as steam tables, steam cookers, scullery units and dishwashing machines.

To be responsible for the plumbing maintenance of lavatory facilities, faucets, drinking fountains and sprinkler systems.

To submit written requests for supplies and equipment, including the determination of kind, size, quantity and quality.

To do related work as required

Required Qualifications

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES:

A thorough knowledge of plumbing installation, maintenance and repair operations; a thorough knowledge of appropriate safety measures; the ability to analyze and work from blueprints, working drawings and sketches; the ability to lay out and supervise the work of skilled plumbers; a skill in assembling and connecting fixtures and appliances used in plumbing systems; the ability to make written reports; and related capacities and abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Such as may have been gained through: completion of ten school grades; and Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment as a skilled plumber. Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

At time of appointment must possess either a master or journeyman plumber's license in the State of Rhode Island and must maintain such licensure as a condition of employment. At the time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate.

Preferred Qualifications Environmental Conditions

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday - 2:00 to 10:30 PM

Days off - Saturday & Sunday
