Job Description General Laborer
We are seeking General Laborers to join our team on both 1st and 2nd shift. This position involves processing scrap metals using a variety of tools and equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
- 1st Shift Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM
- 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 5:00PM - 1:30AM
- Pay rate $17.00 hourly ($18.50 once hired in after 520 hours)
- Weekly pay on Friday
- Benefits/PTO/401(k) available
Job Responsibilities for General Laborer
- Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area
- Load and unload materials from production areas, storage, docks, delivery vehicles, or containers by hand or using mobile equipment
- Sort recycled materials and metals, separating high-grade metals and removing non-conforming items
- Operate and maintain mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, street sweepers, and water trucks
- Perform physical labor using tools including hand tools, torches, banders, chop saws, alligator shears, reciprocating saws, and wire snips
- Identify various grades and types of scrap materials and detect any undesirable components
- Drain fluids from incoming materials or vehicles as required
- Conduct cleaning and general housekeeping tasks throughout the facility
- Assist mechanics with equipment maintenance tasks
- Interact with drivers or customers as needed to provide direction or assistance
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned
Job Qualifications for General Laborer
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
- Experience operating mobile equipment, such as forklifts, is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow written and verbal instructions
- Physically capable of climbing ladders or steps and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in an outdoor industrial environment, exposed to dust, dirt, noise, vibrations, and varying weather conditions
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening
