Cost Accountant (Remote) Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant (Remote) who will be a strategic partner, delivering insights that directly guide business decisions and growth. While the foundation of this role is strong general ledger and month-end close, the Cost Accountant is ultimately accountable for providing deep analysis and granular data that supports both operational execution and strategic planning for a dynamic and growing company. This role is fully remote with occasional travel to Portland, Oregon. Cost Accountant (Remote) Responsibilities Perform monthly close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP. Own and maintain cost accounting systems and inputs; review COGS and inventory accuracy, support physical inventory counts, and ensure reliable, actionable data by product line, SKU, segment, brand, and business model. Act as a finance partnernot just a back-office functionworking closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to inform and influence key business and supply chain decision. Drive analysis of core business drivers, such as sold orders vs. shipped orders (including freight charges) and duties/tariffs as a material cost component. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and contribute to improving process effectiveness across departments. Support accounts payable functions, including customer service, processing complex vendor invoices and back-up to the AP Specialist. Support audit procedures and compliance. Cost Accountant (Remote) Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience, with emphasis on costing, GL, and month-end close. ERP system experience required; SAP and NetSuite strongly preferred. Proficiency with Excel and accounting platforms such as Bill.com and Ramp. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Manufacturing, distribution, retail, and/or public accounting experience a plus. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt in a fast-changing environment. Excellent communication skills, able to clearly convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders and partner cross-functionally. Salary: $70k-$90k/year + bonus.
