Civil Estimator

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join our residential construction and development team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in estimating site work, grading, earthwork, and underground utilities for residential communities. This position plays a key role in evaluating project costs, supporting land acquisition decisions, and helping ensure successful execution of development plans.

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential land development projects, including grading, roads, stormwater systems, water/sewer, and dry utilities.

• Analyze construction documents, engineering drawings, and soils reports to determine scope and cost.

• Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers; perform takeoffs and quantity calculations as needed.

• Develop budgets for pre-development, construction, and horizontal infrastructure phases.

• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and development teams to ensure alignment on scope and costs.

• Maintain and update historical cost data and unit pricing for use in future estimates.

• Assist with value engineering, risk assessment, and bid strategy.

• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project handoffs as required.

• 5+ years of experience in civil estimating with a focus on site work and/or underground utilities , preferably for residential or land development projects.

• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods including grading, paving, drainage, water/sewer, and dry utilities.

• Proficient with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Agtek, HeavyBid, Excel, or similar).

• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
