Summary

This position is responsible for the supervision of crews in the construction, maintenance, planning, estimating, and completing of transmission, distribution, and telecommunication projects.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Line Superintendent, leads/supervises employees on utility line projects. This includes evaluating employee performance and providing feedback to management as well as ensuring adequate training is completed.
  • Ensures all work is performed safely and efficiently in accordance with Federal, State, company and customer standards.
  • Procures and provides tools, equipment and instruments of the trade and ensures required maintenance is performed.
  • Estimates projects and prepares records/reports as required.
  • Reads, interprets, and works from sketches and diagrams.
  • Work with internal and external team to meet all project requirements, inventory/equipment needs, and schedules including any required documentation.
  • Works with the public, customers, and fellow employees in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet customer demands/schedule, including overtime and emergency duty as requested (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent; trade related certificate/degree strongly preferred
  • Must have a valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License); Class A preferred
  • First Class/Journeyman Line Worker experience required
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge/understanding of relevant utility design, construction, and maintenance including relevant equipment, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to successfully obtain and/or maintain required licenses/certifications/documents
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written and a strong work ethic
  • Previous experience supervising/managing is desirable but not required
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiners Card (DOT Card).
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to climb utility poles and/or work out of an aerial lift device.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions, including standing, walking, and working on uneven ground for the full workday.
  • Ability to operate/drive all trade related equipment/vehicles for several hours every day.
  • Must have the ability to see/distinguish colors and to hear clearly.
