SENIOR PROJECT DESIGNER
The purpose of this position is to provide clear, accurate, and concise design documentation for installation and use of Building Automation Control Systems, typically focused on HVAC controls, based on project specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or sales documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates design drawings including riser diagrams, flow diagrams, material lists, sequence of operations, panel layouts, wiring termination details and equipment schedules.
Create project specific documents including parts order list, packing lists for future shipments, submittals, and operation and maintenance manuals.
Communicate directly with equipment vendors to verify control capabilities or requirements of their products.
Continuous education of new products and innovations in the building automation field.
Performs sizing calculations for control valves and dampers, and similar control devices.
Complete control panel check-out by verifying proper wiring terminations prior to delivery.
Training of other Project Designers.
Coordination with other Project Teams (including Sales, Project Management, Engineering, & Service).
Creation and/or Quality Control of new Design Templates.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Design/Engineering Technology orequivalent experience specific to this role.
Experience with HVAC /R design, HVAC /R controls, or related field preferred.
KNOWLEDGE
Well versed with HVAC application engineering, design, sequences of operation for electrical circuits and schematics. Must have working knowledge of standard trade industry practices.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Applications, Google Drive, Email, and various other applications.
Able to coordinate and transfer work encountered and results thereof to paper.
Knowledge of computer drafting software, preferably both Visio and/or AutoCA
