The Williams Facilities department is seeking a Grounds Foreperson to lead our grounds crew. The team is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the college's landscaped grounds, hardscapes, and auxiliary properties.

The Foreperson will be responsible for the direct supervision of the team, scheduling of work orders and assignments, and monitoring the campus grounds. Responsibilities:

  • Meet daily with team leads to review work assignments

  • Ensure staff are appropriately credentialed, trained, and skilled to safely complete assigned tasks

  • Manage and oversee safety and compliance in regards to equipment, new policies, and industry trends

  • Supervise and assist when necessary with the maintenance of campus grounds, including; sidewalks, parking lot structures, plowing, spring/fall clean up, sweeping, patching, trimming, aeration, and turf installation and renovation by seeding or sodding

  • Supervise and assist with seasonal maintenance, repair and winter overhaul/reconditioning of mechanical grounds equipment

  • Supervise when necessary the setup and takedown of stages, risers, canopies, table & chairs involved with Commencement, Alumni Reunion, and Campus Events. Assist when necessary with the moving of furniture, equipment, and related items for campus departments

  • Monitor landscape maintenance of trees, shrubs, and beds. Including inspection for overall health. Diagnose and act on issues related to landscapes, hardscapes, insects, diseases, vandalism, and other environmental concerns

  • Includes year-round outdoor work with periodic overtime

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years relevant experience in grounds maintenance

  • Knowledge and experience of landscape management and turf grass science required

  • Valid driver's license, DOT medical card, Massachusetts Hoisting License, and Massachusetts Pesticide License required (or will need to be obtained within the first year of employment.)

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs unassisted

Application review will begin on August 4, 2025. Pay range is from $33.65 to $38.50, commensurate with experience.
