We are seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to lead our Orange County geotechnical group, replacing a dual-role Principal CEG/GE. This is a strategic leadership role focused on technical excellence, team mentorship, and business development. The ideal candidate will bring strong geotechnical and materials experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing office.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Orange County geotechnical team, providing technical direction and oversight.
- Mentor junior staff, fostering growth and development in geotechnical engineering practices.
- Manage geotechnical projects from proposal through delivery, including field investigations, analysis, and reporting.
- Review concrete and steel submittals, special inspection reports, and materials testing documentation.
- Conduct job site visits, troubleshoot field issues, and ensure quality control.
- Write and review technical reports, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and client alignment.
- Engage in client-facing activities, including meetings, presentations, and relationship building.
- Support business development efforts as a seller-doer, contributing to proposals and strategic growth initiatives.
- Collaborate across disciplines, wearing multiple hats to support office-wide success.
- PE license in California required.
- Minimum 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in Southern California.
- Strong experience in materials testing and inspection (concrete, steel, soils).
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with client interaction and business development.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
