DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Plumber 1, you will be responsible for maintaining and installing plumbing systems at Fort Indiantown Gap. Your work duties will include installing new waterlines, fire hydrants, and manholes, as well as repairing or replacing water mains and sewer lines. You will also be responsible for installing and repairing fixtures in bathrooms and kitchens, such as faucets, showers, toilets, and sinks. This position requires a strong understanding of plumbing principles to effectively determine and implement solutions for assigned tasks. Additionally, you will need to keep detailed records of work completed and materials used, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure that all work complies with DMVA general safety rules.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- This position requires you to possess, at the time of application, or obtain, within 18 months of the date of hire, a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a water or wastewater operator that is equal to or greater than Class E, Subclass 1. Certification must be continuously maintained for the duration of employment in the position.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
- Previous experience as a plumber
- Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of water main breaks and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
- Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of underground water mains and/or sewage lines
- Previous experience in the installation and/or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
- Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
