Description

The outage scheduler while planning for generation outages will have flexibility in location during the planning process.

Site visits will be 1 - 2 trips per month for 2 days at a time and can be up to 3 hours away depending on location. One month before outage execution, travel could be 50% of the time. During outage execution travel could be 100% of the time for the 6 - 8 weeks of outage duration on an annual or semi-annual basis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply progressive competence in estimating and scope development, scope management, and Work Breakdown Structure development, utilization, and management to effectively plan for work execution. Ensure that project work elements are organized and are reflected in terms of approved resource estimating for project scheduling. Continue to WALK PROJECTS DOWN to plan the work as well as status work performed and provide advancing risk management competence threat reduction and schedule opportunities for increasing schedule accuracy.
  • Ensure schedule activity, logic, durations, resources, and integrated schedule network quality in accordance with project management industry standards. Ensure schedule assessment and analysis quality. Utilize schedule quality control metrics and apply schedule measurement inspections to drive effective schedule control. Apply progressive risk management competence to project scheduling to increase the precision and accuracy of the project schedule.
  • Apply scope, planning, and execution risk management to the development of the project schedule and integrate schedule estimate uncertainty with project risk. Quantify risk response to more effectively forecast schedule performance
  • Assists in contract commercial management, conduct contract performance assessment and reporting and initial contract performance analysis and contract schedule forecasting. Performs contract reviews relative schedule progress and milestone payments and contract change control.
  • Applies core project cost management expertise.
  • Applies core project schedule management expertise.
  • Review and coordinate the management and utilization of project initiation, project planning, project controls guideline and project controls related standards, project controls management processes, job aids and tools.
  • Integrates schedule management with core project controls (cost management, scope management) to drive core objective performance.
  • Manages schedule effort.
  • Tailors schedule management processes.
  • Tailors / creates schedule management tools / techniques to advance schedule performance.
  • Utilizes project management planning and schedule planning processes to validate contractor schedule estimates, forecasts, and milestone completion dates. Manage the Basis of Schedule Estimates.
  • Develop / apply proficiency in project planning and risk management into the project (schedule) baselines.
  • Evaluates schedule performance and schedule variance (SV) and establishes root causes for negative variances and positive variances and identifies required corrective actions.
  • Applies schedule assessment and analysis tools and techniques and integrates scope planning to determine project corrective actions and preventive actions and incorporates path forward activities, logic, resource requirements, work arounds contingency plans, etc. into the project schedule.
  • Works to implement schedule preventive action.
  • Perform standard project and special project schedule reporting as required by the project stakeholders; compiles and produces schedule reports as required and directed.
  • Applies a project integration mindset; integration of people, processes, tools, and techniques to achieve the project schedule objectives.
  • Apply product life cycle costing competence.
  • Becomes a repository to the project management team, Major Project managers, Director, and other relevant stakeholders for accurate project schedule and project management information for reviewing, assessing, analyzing, and change managing schedule management information and reporting.
  • Engages project stakeholders to optimize schedule planning and schedule control.
  • Apply proficiency in effective communication and assessing project stakeholders for their core and special schedule reporting, schedule assessment, and schedule analysis needs and provide those stakeholders with optimum communication, information, and reporting.
  • The Project Scheduler will manage in accordance with Industry standards, the NiSource Project Management Guidelines and Standards, and industry best practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Integrated knowledge base in project scope-schedule-cost, and risk-quality management.

  • Initial proficiency in scheduling software (P6) and spreadsheet development, utilization, and controlled manipulation.
  • Coordinates, applies cognitive ability, personal effectiveness, innovation, initial decision-making, communication soft skills; listening, articulating, writing, messaging, proactive stakeholder management

Required for Selection:

  • High School diploma and two years of experience working as a scheduler OR
  • High School diploma and four years of construction / engineering experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree and one year experience in a technical field
  • Valid Drivers License

Preferred for Selection:

  • Bachelor's Degree and two years' experience as a project scheduler.
  • Ability to read and interpret schedules, schedule software proficiency; database development proficiency
  • Experience in large industrial Capital Project environments.

Salary Range*:

$93,800.00 - $140,700.00

  • The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.

Summary

Apply project schedule management methodology, processes, tools, techniques, and information management systems to effectively manage the project schedule throughout the entire project life cycle. Perform advanced schedule development processes, schedule performance assessment and schedule analysis using schedule risk and value analysis; utilize effective schedule change control throughout the project life cycle phases. Develop and maintain the project schedule baseline. Develop effective schedule development and management strategy and specific schedule management plan, apply the schedule system architecture, create and apply the standard and project -specific estimate project cost, develop project budgets and cost performance baselines, collect, assess and analyze cost performance, and recommend cost corrective actions; perform project schedule and cost close-out for designated projects. Perform initial schedule management planning and generate the initial project schedule using project initiation criteria. Progressively elaborate the project schedule using schedule planning and project planning processes. Generate the project schedule performance baseline. Status the project schedule baseline during project execution. Maintain the project schedule baseline using schedule monitoring and controlling processes and earned value management, applying preventive schedule management (threat/corrective action prevention). Close schedule activities and contractor schedules upon validated completion of project activity work. Manage the development and progression of the project schedule throughout the project life cycle using advancing project management knowledge areas (quality management and risk management). Develop effective schedule development and management strategy and specific schedule management plan, apply the schedule system architecture, define risk-driven and risk configuration control: schedule activities, schedule logic, activity resource estimates, activity duration estimates, schedule network analysis, schedule analysis and expected monetary value and schedule value definition (planned value-PV). Perform schedule assessment and analysis, creating accurate estimated completion dates (ECD's). Generate schedule threat and opportunity management to establish best path forward options for the project management team. Expand cost engineering and project management capability and competence using industry standards (AACE, PMI, Construction Management Industry, etc.) and best practice application to expand knowledge base and optimum application Engage project stakeholders to establish and develop an accurate and optimum integrated project schedule and project schedule baseline. Effectively communicate and disseminate schedule management and reporting status and work performance information to the project management team, project team, and impacted product stakeholders for project objective management.
