The Earthmoving Global Manufacturing Engineering team supports Caterpillars Earthmoving products, including Medium Track Type Tractors, Motor Graders, Medium Wheel Loaders and Paving Products, and is a driving force for process excellence at our manufacturing facilities so that our customers can be successful in building a better and more sustainable world. New Product Introductions (NPI) and New Source Introductions (NSI) play a critical role in ensuring the high quality of these products that our customers require. If you are looking for an opportunity to leverage your knowledge of prime product manufacturing processes and global collaboration skills to make a global impact on key products, this is a great opportunity for you as an Earthmoving Manufacturing Project Engineer.
In this role, you will report into the Earthmoving Manufacturing COE NPI/NSI Engineering Manager. You will support Earthmoving operations facilities, serving as a key project engineer on teams to champion the voice of manufacturing, design for manufacturability and Lean manufacturing across product groups. You will execute elements of the Defect Free Operating System (DFOS) to ensure early collaboration with global manufacturing facilities, design engineering and suppliers. You will also be called upon to lead projects to improve Safety, Quality, Velocity or Cost processes while driving common worldwide manufacturing processes.
Specifically, in this role, you will:
- Be a cross functional NPI/NSI team member to deliver solutions that meet multiple objectives and balance performance, safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
- Execute and follow through on DFOS/APQP processes while providing technical expertise and leadership in support of Earthmoving NPI & NSI projects.
- Provide input and act as a design for manufacturability subject matter expert consulting and coaching with various manufacturing and design teams.
- Work with facilities and execute the development, analysis, and documentation of manufacturing readiness for new product development, design and cost improvement, maintenance, and other special projects.
- Collaborate with team members to drive sustainable changes to the organization.
- Lead a diverse team of technical professionals to execute projects on time and on budget.
To be successful in this role, you must bring:
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related degree
- 3+ years in New Product Introduction, Lean Manufacturing, or New Source Introduction experience in manufacturing and/or supplier process development
- Experience and knowledge of machine manufacturing including assembly, test, and paint, sFMEA, pFMEA, control plans, standard work, manufacturing systems and tooling.
- Proficient level of understanding of standards, practices and procedures related to manufacturing, and engineering.

- Previous Earthmoving Product manufacturing engineering experience
- Previous virtual validation and process simulation experience
- Demonstrated project management experience or 6 Sigma Black Belt certified.
- Previously proven team leadership proved high levels of initiative and accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in global collaboration such as Worldwide CPPD activities, continuous improvement across multiple facilities/suppliers.

- Location for this position: Peoria
- Proficient in English written and verbal is required.
- Off-hour meetings are expected with flexible work arrangements
- 15-20% travel is expected, including occasional international travel.
- ISE assignments are not available for this position.
- Relocation may be available for this position.
Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
