Compensation:
- Hourly Pay Range: $19.16 - $21.13
Position qualifies for 30 cents/hour Maintenance and Trades differential pay. Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Painter Senior
This position works on the Construction and Design Crew for the State Buildings in the Capitol Complex. This position performs skilled work installing drywall and painting, refinishing furniture and other painted, stained or finished surfaces.
Plans, selects materials, lays out and constructs partitions, walls, ceilings, paneling, platforms, doors, window frames, and installs hardware, hinges, handles, locks, hasps, venetian blinds, etc., as specified by request for agencies or as required by repairs or renovation on the Capitol Complex Buildings. This position also repairs and renovates buildings and rooms by removing partitions, doors, door frames and wainscoting.
Prepares surfaces using scrapers, sandpaper, wire brush, lacquer thinner, burn off procedures, sheet rock mud, tape and plaster. Apply paint, varnish, lacquers, and shellacs using spray equipment, brush, and rollers to wood, plaster, concrete, asphalt and paper surfaces. Work is reviewed in progress or upon completion. Has a journeyman level knowledge of the various paints, lacquers, varnishes, stains, etc. used in the commercial painting industry. This knowledge would include the differences in the various products and the applications for each.
Refinish decorative wood trim, ornate millwork, furniture, desks, and benches by preparing surfaces with the use of strippers, thinners, steel wool, wire brush, and sandpaper. Apply bleaches, fillers, stains, varnishes and lacquers using spray equipment, brushes, rollers and other hand tools in order to protect or enhance appearance. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion. Assists construction crew as needed.
Completes specialty painting such as antiquing, glazing, rag painting, gold gilding, etc. Prepares surfaces and applies wallpaper and vinyl wall covering. Performs glazing and patching. Engrave signs, update directories in all buildings, paint and stencil all signs in Capitol Complex. Participates in a variety of special projects/tasks as designated by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Licensing & Certification: Valid driver's license
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience as a painter. Must be able to climb ladders and work from scaffolding and ladders.
