As a Transportation Civil Engineer, you will be working on cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary roadway design projects for high-profile state agencies and large municipalities in the New England area. You will work closely with our team of civil engineers to support and deliver roadway design projects including incorporation of multimodal facilities, traffic calming treatments, urban streets roadway designs and modifications, accessibility improvements, transit network upgrades, drainage assessments and designs, public and private utility coordination, and green infrastructure elements.
Most of our team enjoys a hybrid schedule, which allows us to offer this role in any of our New England offices: Boston, MA; Springfield, MA; Worcester, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Portland, ME; and/or Manchester, NH offices.
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical expertise on projects from the conceptual and preliminary engineering design phase to final design.
- Providing technical expertise on projects beyond final design to through construction phase services.
- Coordinating with architects, bridge, environmental, geotechnical, survey, and traffic professionals, to complete multi-disciplinary project deliverables.
- Assisting project managers in various aspects of roadway design, utility infrastructure design and coordination, development of construction documents, and construction support services.
- Preparing detailed civil design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
- Working with Project Managers to ensure that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5+ years' experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for roadway design projects.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, or the ability and motivation to obtain license.
- Experience with developing roadway designs in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) or Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) design guidelines and standards.
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation - InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoTURN.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in: 3D roadway models, horizontal alignments, profiles, corridors, cross sections, grading, sidewalk/curb ramps, ADA design, construction phasing, quantity takeoffs, and estimates preferred.
