Position Summary

This position will serve as the primary engineering resource for the section, administering the formulation, development, implementation and evaluation of important program, policy, budgetary, and organizational components of the department's transportation engineering programs. This position is responsible for leading engineering related tasks for the Proposal Management Section, overseeing PSE reviews and proposals for the letting, using advanced engineering expertise in developing, maintaining, and providing guidance for special provisions and other proposal documentation, and completing other engineering activities as either the primary or back up to other engineers in the section. In order to successfully perform in this position, this position requires extensive understanding of engineering principles and practices, and possess an in-depth knowledge of the project development process, including design and construction the Facilities Development Manual, and interpretation of Standard Specifications.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $90,064 - $108,950, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Occasional statewide travel with overnight stays at remote locations may be required.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the DTSD offices throughout the state two days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are still expected to telework from within the state of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have the following at the time of application:

  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state
