Pipe Layer

Description:

A pipe layer does physical labor on construction sites. They may prepare sites by cleaning them, loading or unloading materials and removing hazards. A pipe layer may also run some types of equipment, or perform wet taps and set structures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties assigned by the Construction Manager, Supervisor or Foreman.
• Carry materials and supplies from trucks to job site so they are ready for installation or other tasks.
• Measure and cut pipe to desired specifications.
• Help equipment operator, surveyors, and other skilled labor when necessary.
• Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
• Working knowledge of a transit level.
• Put together and take apart new or replacement structures and pipe.
• Remove, fill, or compact earth.
• Perform site clean-up.

Qualifications:

• Experience on a construction crew preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn construction skills on-site.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
• Workers must be punctual and reliable.
• Ability to get along with co-workers.
