JOB SUMMARY:
The position performs senior, lead, or journey-level technical work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, fields, or electrical systems, depending on the assigned area. Responsibilities may also include assessing and inspecting athletic fields for plant health, pest control, safety hazards, and other potential concerns.
Work is performed under general supervision with latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (All Assignment Areas)
· Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and installation tasks independently or as part of a team.
· Maintain records related to work assignments, including work orders, timesheets, material usage, and purchase requisitions.
· Conduct inspections and testing as part of a preventive maintenance program, ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment.
· Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions using test instruments and hand tools.
· Perform tasks from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs when required.
· Adhere to all safety, accident prevention, and security protocols.
· Supervise and lead teams of equipment operators, maintenance workers, and technicians when assigned

ELECTRICIAN
· Maintains the electrical systems of new roadway street lights, sports fields lights, and municipal buildings and facilities.
· Maintains inventory within the division.
· Performs electrical related tasks without direct supervision.
· Prepares reports and analyses of electrical activities.
· Maintains a safe working environment.
· Attends training courses regarding current practices in the electrical field.
· Responds to complaints and inquiries regarding electrical problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ALL ASSIGNMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training and at least four (4) years of relevant technical experience.
  • Proficiency in operating medium to heavy maintenance and construction equipment, depending on the area of assignment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, certification, training, and experience may be considered.

Additional Qualifications by Assignment Area

  • Electrician: Preferred three (3) years of experience as a Certified Journeyman Electrician, including commercial and service-related electrical work. Experience operating a bucket truck is required.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Must maintain a valid Florida Drivers License and adhere to municipal vehicle operation policies.
  • A Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) may be required based on job duties.
  • Relevant vocational training and at least four (4) years of experience as a licensed spray technician specializing in Bermuda turf, depending on assignment.
  • A spray license may be required based on the job assignment.

Regular attendance at work on-site is essential to maintain the necessary teamwork, personal interaction, and supervision that this position requires. Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes or other critical events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of basic computer applications
· Depending on the area of assignment, knowledge of advanced-level repair solutions may be required to ensure safe and proper operating conditions
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
· Knowledge of principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service
· Skill in instructing less experienced staff
· Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance and/or repair is needed
· Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with residents, coworkers, supervisors, administration, and vendors
· Ability to communicate during emergency situations effectively, promptly, and accurately or to avoid hazards
· Depending on area of assignment, ability to climb a ladder and walk on flat roofs
· Ability to operate heavy equipment
· Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
· Ability to rely on experience and exercise independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures
· Ability to update and maintain records and files (e.g., work orders, timesheets, materials required/used, and purchase requisitions)
· Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule
· Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 80 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. May require periodic lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability. Must have manual dexterity and be able to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, or fingers. Must be able to perceive color and depth. Tasks involve prolonged eye use and/or fine visual ability; computer work, reading text, visual inspections, or measurement devices. Must be able to follow visual cues or signals.
