Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a driven and versatile Water/Wastewater Engineer to help lead and grow our municipal W/WW practice. This is a strategic hire intended to fill a key leadership gap on our team and expand our service offerings into new areas such as treatment, master planning/modeling, and sewer rehabilitation (SSES) . Responsibilities
  • Design and manage a range of W/WW projects, including water and sewer transmission systems, pump stations, treatment facilities, and sewer rehabilitation programs

  • Lead project tasks such as technical design, permitting, construction coordination, and quality control

  • Take ownership of project management duties including budgeting, proposal development, and scheduling

  • Serve as a point of contact for client communication, meetings, and regulatory coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions

  • Mentor and guide less-experienced staff; contribute to a strong team culture

  • Support strategic growth efforts in municipal markets across the Carolinas

  • Maintain high-quality deliverables and contribute to a growing W/WW practice

Qualifications
  • 515 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, preferably in the municipal space

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months

  • Technical experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Water/wastewater treatment

    • Master planning and hydraulic modeling (e.g., WaterGEMS, InfoWater, SewerGEMS)

    • Pump stations and conveyance systems

    • Sewer system evaluation surveys (SSES) and rehabilitation

  • Strong project management, coordination, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Interest in developing long-term client relationships and helping grow the business

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a clear vision for career growth
