Job Summary:
Responsible for construction projects that are assigned to the Superintendent. This includes supervision of construction cost estimates, material and sub-contractor pricing, negotiate and write sub-contracts and purchase orders, keep cost records, as well as plan and coordinate all construction activities. Also coordinates construction work with user group representatives and the Engineering Department.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or high school graduate with equivalent work experience.

Five years minimum experience as a construction supervisor with at least two of these years supervising projects of at least $300,000 in size.

Department Position Summary:
Some of the processes of this position will include: construction techniques and practices; architectural and engineering concepts; construction, safety, and regulatory codes; ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings; ability to read and interpret contracts and specifications; ability to work with people; ability to work with contractors and vendors; ability to inspect and direct the work of others; ability to handle multiple tasks; and scheduling and organizational skills. Some of the procedures may include: manage daily activities of In-house construction personnel, contractors, and vendors as relates to in-house projects; order and schedule material deliveries; schedule manpower and contractor activities; maintain and update project schedules; assure proper accounting of material and labor costs; coordinate construction activities with user groups and related facilities personnel; coordinate activities as relates to Engineering Department; conduct inspections of ongoing work for accuracy; and manage safety plans at all construction sites. The equipment used will be; telephone, fax machine, and copy machines; hospital computer systems; hospital paging and radio systems; work-related safety gear; and work-related power tools (saws, planers, sanders, lifting equipment, etc.) Training and education will include: infection control; customer service; fire/electrical safety; hazardous communication; and confined spaces.
